On October 25th, 11 world tire giants including Bridgestone, Michelin, Goodyear, Continental Horse and Sumitomo Rubber gathered in Singapore to participate in the launching ceremony of the Global Sustainable Natural Rubber Platform (GPSNR).
The platform was developed by the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) Tire Industry Sector (TIP) to improve the socio-economic and environmental performance of the natural rubber supply chain.
Peter Bakker, President and CEO of WBCSD, pointed out that tire manufacturers consume 70% of the world's NR production each year. This number is still growing. The newly established platform will strive to harmonize standards and improve the natural rubber supply chain. Transparency and traceability.
The operator of the platform said that it will work to ensure the sustainable production supply and stable development of the natural rubber industry. When companies join the platform, they will benefit from the synergy of natural rubber procurement or operation activities.
According to the WBCSD press release, stakeholders in the NR industry, such as tire and rubber product manufacturers, car manufacturers, rubber suppliers and processors, are involved in the development of a global sustainable natural rubber platform.
