On March 28, 2019, continental group, the world’s leading automotive parts leader, officially opened its new tire manufacturing plant in Thailand. A huge celebration was held on the same day, with about 500 people attending and witnessing the galloping German horse. With a current investment of 250 million euros (about 2 billion yuan), the plan aims to gradually increase its productin capacity to about 40 million passenger car tires by 2022, mainly for sale throughout the asia-pacific region.
Nikolai Setzer, head of the tire division of the group, together with the company’s management and local employees, welcomed suppliers, dealers and partners to luoyong factory. He said: “we are very honored to celebrate with you today we open the first new tyre factory in Thailand, luo’s investment is an important part of the growth strategy of continental tyre division 2025 blueprint, further to improve the position of our global tyre industry (note: the continental will enter the global top three in the past four years), strengthens our production capacity in the Asia Pacific region, enables us to provide customers with better service.”
Thailand’s vice minister of industry, Dr. Somchai Harnhirun, addressed the meeting by announcing that the new continental tire plant create hundreds of new jobs in Thailand, further improving the pattern of Thailand’s auto industry. “We are pleased to have continental tire in Thailand, and we hope that the mission of continental and all of its employees will be fulfilled, which is to ensure the safety and comfort of Thai roads” he said.
The luo yong tire factory is continental’s seventh brand-new construction plant since 1998, located just 56 kilometers from Laem Chabang, Thailand, the factory covers an area of 750,000 square meters. The tire production base of continental group has now spread over 17 countries in the world, reaching 20 factories.
