On July 10, Continental Tire broke ground in the motorcycle tire factory in Rayong, Thailand. The company said it will invest about 30 million US dollars (about 200 million yuan) in the next few years to expand motorcycle tire production capacity.
China Rubber Network learned that the new plant is scheduled to start production in 2021, and the location is near the passenger tire factory that was put into operation in March this year, but the specific capacity has not been disclosed.
In addition to the Thai plant, Continental tires in the Korbach plant in central Germany will continue to focus on the development and production of high-end motorcycle tires while further expanding production capacity.
Continental Tire said that the new project is to meet the demand for motorcycle tires in Europe, the United States, Asia and South America.
According to China Rubber Network, the mainland tire Rayong factory was put into operation in March this year, with an investment of about 265 million US dollars (about 1.8 billion yuan). It is planned to increase the annual production capacity to 4 million passenger tires by 2022. Meet the market demand in the Asia Pacific region.
