Uses Used for NR, IR, SBR, NBR, EPDM and  latex. Be a secondary accelerator in combination with PZ and EZ. Similar performance  as MBT at curing temperature in dry rubber application. Suitable for mold  curing. Requires zinc oxide and stearic acid as activators in many kinds of  rubber batches. Easily disperses in rubber, yields non-staining and  non-discoloring products. Mainly used in latex products, foam rubber, latex  coating gloves, etc. Can be used in medical or food related rubber products.

As a promoter, its activity is between dithiocarbamate and thiazole accelerator, and has the characteristics of low critical temperature, easy scorch, high vulcanization speed, uneven vulcanization curve and high vulcanization degree. Among natural rubber and highly unsaturated diene synthetic rubber, thiuram is generally used as a second accelerator for thiazole and sulfenamide because of poor processing safety (easy to scorch, easy to persulfate). The vulcanization rate and the crosslink density of the vulcanizate are increased to adjust and improve the properties of the article. If thiuram is used as the main accelerator, in order to prevent the reversion of vulcanization, the vulcanization temperature should not be too high, generally not higher than 125-135 ° C, in order to obtain a relatively wide vulcanized flat line, reducing the risk of sulfur. When used for a sulphur-containing compound or for styrene-butadiene rubber, the vulcanization temperature can be increased. In the sulfur vulcanization of low-unsaturated rubbers such as butyl, EPDM and latex, thiurams are often used as the first accelerator. Due to the high activity of the thiuram-type accelerator, a vulcanizate having a certain tensile strength is prepared, which is used in a smaller amount than other accelerators.

As a vulcanizing agent, tetramethylthiuram disulfide is often used in sulfur-free or low-sulfur blending. At this time, the scorch tendency is small, the vulcanization flatness is good, and the vulcanized rubber has excellent heat aging resistance, small heat generation, and small compression set, so the application is wide. However, when there is no sulfur mixture, the sulfur speed is slower and the degree of vulcanization is lower. The tensile strength and the tensile stress of the vulcanized rubber are low, the flexural fatigue resistance is poor, and the frost is easy to spray. For this reason, a low-sulfur blend or a small amount of accelerator M, DM or the like can be used, which not only increases the activity of the system, improves the properties of the vulcanizate, but also reduces or prevents blooming. The thiuram accelerator has the characteristics of no pollution and no discoloration, and is suitable for manufacturing white, colored and transparent products. Because it is non-toxic, the vulcanized rubber has a slight odor, but it can gradually disappear, so it can be used to make food glue. The thiuram accelerator is suitable for a variety of general vulcanization methods and can also be used in injection vulcanized or continuously vulcanized compounds.
